How to Taste Extra Virgin Olive Oils

If you've ordered/received our olive oils and want to have a proper tasting for yourself or with some friends or family, here's a breakdown of how to do it and get more out of your oils!

THE TASTING

First, pour 1 tsp of one varietal of olive oil into each cup/small glass.

Second, place the cup in the palm of your hand. Cover the top with your other hand and rub the cup on your palm for up to thirty seconds, warming the olive oil slightly. This releases more of the aroma. Keep the cup covered until you’re ready to sniff.

Third, sniff by placing your nose to the edge of the glass, inhale deeply and identify the aromas within the oil.

Fourth, slurp noisily through your mouth to emulsify the oil and help spread it through your mouth. This will help release the different natural flavours.

Lastly, Swallow and take note of the flavours you taste. Note the fruitiness, bitterness, and pungency of each olive oil.
